This documentary follows rural cattle farmer Francis Humphrys as he masterminds the annual two-week, international West Cork Chamber Music Festival. Two years before, Humphrys had a vision – having successfully mounted a series of small concerts in local churches around south-west Ireland, he set about a more ambitious masterplan: to bring a festival of international standard to West Cork, held at the beautiful Bantry House. And that’s exactly what he has done. The 1998 programme is rich in classical and Irish music and features celebrity artists such as Joanna MacGregor, the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet and a John Tavener premičre.
