The return to popularity of the Argentine Tango also represents a return to the roots of the dance, which originated in Argentina at the end of the nineteenth century. Several different types of music influenced the Tango, but the main influence was Milonga, which drew its inspirations from African rhythms. The 'Tango Milonguero' derives its name from this influence.
This DVD program was devised by the qualified dance instructor Marie Claude Martin, who specializes in Argentine and Milonga tangos. It enables both men and women to master the basic steps of the Tango, as well as the most popular variations of the dance.
Each new step or variation is described in great detail, in terms of both the movements and the rhythm. The different steps are shown initially in slow motion, followed by the same sequence without music then again with music.
INCLUDES: •The Tango Milonguero: Origins and history •Overview of the program and sequences •The position of the dancers •The 'Salida' •The 'Salida 40' •The hesitation and corte •The Chase (la caza) •The Backward eights (ochos para atrás) •Firuletes (embellishments) and more!
