The temptations of the exotic and the realization of true love end in tragedy in Giacomo Puccini's Edgar. First performed in 1889, Edgar was Puccini's second opera commissioned by his publisher, Ricordi. The libretto is a medievalist phantasmagoria dealing with a Flemish knight torn between love for virtuous Fidelia and erotic enslavement to Tigrana.

Sung in Italian.
